The Su100 is about two weeks away but I leave in a little over a week for AK. That means my gear should be 100% dialed in by now...and it is. I may change the order in which I pack a few things but I know exactly what I will carry and how I will carry it. A hooded softshell + a wind shell are the biggest changes to last year's kit plus an additional piece of closed cell foam in the NEOS.
By the way, this peanut butter recall sucks! PB Larabars were going to be a staple for me in the race but they are nowhere to be found now. At least Reece's PB Cups were not affected.

Beard's Mountain is going to be the site of a combo snowbike/ski tour adventure soon
Does this seat bag make my butt look big?
How is it that a Fatback can look even sexier loaded down with a bunch of gear? I love that bike (and that gear.)
ReplyDeleteI got a bag of TJ's peanut butter filled pretzels for you that will make you forget all about your lack of Lara Bars.
ReplyDeleteAmanda - you rock! I love those things and they are a great snow bike food.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us of the non snow bike world could you explain why you put so much weight on the front and not on the back of the bike? How much does all your gear weigh?
ReplyDeleteB-shizzle, the weight distribution is very much a personal thing. My logic is that most of the weight is on the rear wheel while riding normally so if I can offset that while loaded for the overnighter it can't hurt. The steering is slowed a bit but overall the bike rides well like this.
ReplyDeleteSee. That's why I asked. I don't have the logic to figure that one out on my own.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Dave...very nice set-up for your gear. And I agree with Jill, love the Fatback. Love those rims with the Endo's as well. They look nicer than black Large Marges.
ReplyDeleteB-Shizzle, another reason for the front load is that soft conditions often require getting on and off a lot and having to swing your leg up and over a huge sleeping bag in the rear would suck after a while in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteYou are a badass! Wow!
