The aluminum Niner cog is much quieter. I think Homebrewed Components' alum/stainless 2-piece cog with a 7mm wide base could be the ticket.Dave Byershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00992222148723757793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-645135157545010104.post-50456781467290922132011-07-02T20:19:57.665-06:002011-07-02T20:19:57.665-06:00pc1 can be a creaky chain as well, useing a stainl...pc1 can be a creaky chain as well, useing a stainless cog on alum freehub body use losta grease... if using stans rims the no eyelet deal can creak as well if there is a slightly out of tension spokeFixieDavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04685170404057881390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-645135157545010104.post-57754502037714882282011-06-28T20:03:40.514-06:002011-06-28T20:03:40.514-06:00Tear the entire bike down, give it a really good c...Tear the entire bike down, give it a really good cleaning. At 53 I ride a single speed and, but my problem is more of a snap, crackle, and pop.Vitohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01277306434031774094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-645135157545010104.post-54175629265860666802011-06-28T19:52:21.916-06:002011-06-28T19:52:21.916-06:00Forget the grease. For a good month I thought it was the BB but it was indeed the freehub splines that just needed some lube. I put some heavy grease on the splines and now she is quiet as a mouse. Worked with both a cassette and a SS cog. Hopefully that helps!Carneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07009028297645353304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-645135157545010104.post-520285592414082872011-06-28T09:41:32.176-06:002011-06-28T09:41:32.176-06:00It's actually your a) knees b)lower back or c)...It's actually your a) knees b)lower back or c) elbows!
Add gears and watch your creaks disappear ;-)
[I swear Chris E. did not put me up to this!!]Hamiltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03374421112101329398noreply@blogger.com
